Easter eggs aren't for everyone!

I know it’s early, but when visiting the supermarket the other day, I was overwhelmed by all the Easter eggs and Hot Cross buns! So I thought I should warn all pet owners early of the potential for poisonings over the Easter period.

This week we cover the bemusing topic of pre-nuptual agreements involving pets. In the US (where else!), lawyers have been springing up by the dozens and becoming specialists in the pet field.

Storm Phobia in Dogs!

Do they dive under the bed whenever rain starts to fall?
This may seem like cute and endearing behaviour, but it's a sign that your dog is terrified of storms. Some people are willing to simply put up with symptoms of storm phobias like hiding, trembling, whining, drooling, and pacing. In more severe cases, however, panicking dogs have been known to chew furniture, tear curtains, break windows. In either case, the behaviour is a sign of a terrified, unhappy dog.
Fleas

Last year was the first time in many years that we have seen a real problem with fleas in Canberra and Queanbeyan. These pesky parasites are normally killed off in our harsh winters and don’t breed well in our dry summers as the eggs need 70% humidity to hatch. With all the welcome rain however, fleas have decided that Canberra is now a great place to live and taken up residence in the millions!

Welcome to the first blog of our brand new website.

Lots of people have been worried and called us about the recent cases of Hendra virus in Queensland and also Northern NSW. So we thought it would be a good idea to briefly cover the main points of the disease, and discuss any potential risks that may present themselves to you as concerned pet owners.
